Author Interview - Genefer Castleow
Welcome to another author interview. Today we are going over seas! Welcome, can you introduce yourself?
Hello. I am Genefer Castleow and I am an author from England. I love all things Scotland and paranormal so it was inevitable I write big cat shifters that live in Scotland. Also in my spare time I do a lot of crafts. At the moment I am knitting cloaks and toys for my daughter for birthday and Christmas. I am also a Wiccan by religion.
And even though I am disabled I am a single parent which I love but it does have its challenges especially those challenges linked with my health. But we get through them.
How old were you when you started to write and what inspired you to start?
I have been writing for as long as I can remember and when at the library I wanted to see my books on the shelf too. The library at my secondary school inspired me to start.
Why did you decide to do mpreg books?
Got bored of Omega this Omega that so I decided to make the Gammas be able to give birth.
What do you like most about writing?
Escapism and it is therapeutic. But it has become a need. I get withdrawal if I do not write for a couple of days.
What do you find to be the hardest thing about writing?
It depends on each book. It is something different in each book but I struggle with naming my characters most of the time.
Do you have a certain way you determine names or do they just come to you?
The ones that I do, they just come to me. Other times I use a name generator or get people to name them.
Do you find yourself to be more plot driven or character driven?
Again depends on the idea. But I like to think they are character driven more often than not.
Is there any character that is your favorite?
Gideon Bright from book 1. I love his backstory and how strong he is even though he is almost blind because he uses magic.
You are writing Book Three now, how do you relate to the characters in that book?
I relate differently depending on the character. There is a part of me in each character. For example, in book three there is a Sabertooth tiger who has the same brain condition as I live with every single day. At the same time in his book there is another character in the book who is an empath, something I am also.
What condition do you have? Does it make writing hard?
I have functional neurological disorder. In essence it does not transmit the brain impulses around the body causing some very strange and funny symptoms. And thankfully no, though I do not write when I am tired.
What is the best advice you have gotten about writing?
Keep going. Just keep writing.
What are your plans for your books? I know you are working on book three, will there be more?
Yes there will be more than three, just not sure how many. And I have a full length novel three book series in the works as well. And a couple of ideas for other series and stand-alones.
